Flip-Floppin' Away To Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana

Our publisher moms loved their stay at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana by Karisma

"Life is a journey that's measured not in miles or years but in experiences." —Jimmy Buffett

We feel like Jimmy Buffett would have most definitely approved of the getaway Macaroni KID publishers had at  Margaritaville® Island Reserve Cap Cana By Karisma in February.

Our publishers found the all-inclusive Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana to be an amazing spot for a family getaway, with gorgeous pools, amazing food, memorable entertainment, and friendly staff who went out of their way to make their trip the ultimate experience.

But don't take our word for it — hear from the publishers who were there!

"While it is luxurious and beyond gorgeous, Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is anything but uptight," wrote Macaroni KID publisher Jen Anderson.

A resort playground for adults... and kids

There is an adult-only part of Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana called "Hammock," and a family section called "Wave," so whether you are on a trip with your besties or with your family, you have options!

While our publishers left their kids at home for this getaway, these moms were impressed with what options are available for families at the resort.

"We absolutely loved the family pool, which had a water playground that will keep little ones entertained for hours," Natasha Bethea Goodwin, publisher of Macaroni KID District Heights, Md., wrote in her review of the resort.

A splash pad made for the smallest guests. Plus, note the adorable kid-sized loungers around the edge. So cute!

Our publishers were also impressed with the Parakeets Kid's Club, where kids can create art, or take part in everything from cooking classes to movie nights. That means their adults can go play or relax for a few hours knowing their little ones are having a great time too!

There's a teen room too: "The teen room has cozy spaces for lounging and gaming and is in close proximity to the basketball and pickleball courts. Those over 12 can play board games, shuffleboard, or video games inside, or head outside to work up a sweat," wrote Kelly Fitzpatrick, publisher of Macaroni KID Armonk - Chappaqua - Mount Kisco - Pleasantville, N.Y., in her review of Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana.

Our publishers also loved the practicality that's so important to families:

"I really appreciated that Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana is on the smaller side so that walking to different activities was easy. It's less than a 5-minute walk to anywhere you'd like to go, even the beach," said Brittany Joyner, publisher of Macaroni KID Killeen, Texas. "Plus, the beach and pools were never overcrowded during my stay, which made it feel like a private oasis."

There are even swim-up rooms available!

Much more than just a cheeseburger in paradise

Food and drinks tasted as good as they looked at this all-inclusive resort.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana By Karisma boasts 10 restaurants in all, each with its own theme and specialties. Twenty-four-hours-a-day room service is also included — a luxury for any parent.

"I definitely took advantage of this all-inclusive perk multiple times during my stay," Leah Spencer, publisher of Macaroni KID Takoma Park-Silver Spring, Md., wrote.

There's an entire gourmet village with five restaurants featuring Italian cuisine, Asian cuisine, a steakhouse, traditional Dominican cuisine, and many a cheeseburger, of course," Brittany said. "I enjoyed trying new island-inspired dishes at Rum Runners! The shrimp, octopus, and squid tacos especially spoke to my Texan taco-loving heart."

Leah had kids in mind when looking over the food options at the resort. She was impressed by what she found.

"I knew this resort understands kids when, along with the eggs, they offered multiple kinds of fruit, and pancakes made from any kind of flour you could want. The sprawling breakfast buffet also included yogurt pouches, Nutella sandwiches with the crusts cut off, and a bowl of giant multi-colored marshmallows," she said.

Why eat poolside, when you can eat IN the pool?

One real wow moment for our publishers? Lunch ... in the pool!

As Meredith Kurnov, publisher of Macaroni KID Brooklyn NW put it: "I was not prepared for the ultimate dining surprise — a tray of floating tacos and cheeseburgers!"

Margaritaville® Island Reserve Cap Cana By Karisma also features three swim-up bars (one with swings!) and its very own Landshark Brewery — yep, the beer is made right on-site!

The entertainment ... and the relaxation

From the relaxation of the beach to a foam pool party, our publishers made the most of their time at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana.

The staff made it easy to have fun, said Gloria Starr, publisher of Macaroni KID Bowie-Crofton-Odenton, Md.

"Multiple times a day, the staff breaks out into a dance number (Lady Gaga anyone?), and they give their all to the number," she says. "The foam party in the pool features dancers, a DJ, and plenty of foam — making such a memorable and fun experience."

After a few hours of lounging and playing by the pool, publishers enjoyed a short walk to the beautiful beach at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana. Options there? Volleyball on the sand, Margaritaville Flipflop Olympics... or simply collecting shells along the shore while listening to the waves of the Caribbean Sea.

Staff that goes above and beyond

Almost all of our publishers mentioned the amazing staff at Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana By Karisma in their reviews. Their warmth and laughter were infectious and made our publishers' time there even more special.

"Our vacation became unforgettable from the moment we set foot onto the resort. We were warmly welcomed by Erickson, who treated us to some mouth-watering bites, island-inspired cocktails, and refreshing popsicles. Ana then greeted us in a warm and inviting manner, ensuring a smooth check-in and answering all our questions. But it didn't end there! Esmerlin went above and beyond by escorting me to my room, providing a thorough tour of my accommodations, and making sure my luggage was safely delivered. This top-notch customer service continued throughout our trip, making our stay truly exceptional," Natasha wrote.

The resort's staff made sure our publishers felt pampered and comfortable, whether it was offering beautiful drinks or entertainment poolside.
