Summer Camps

Camp Highlander: A traditional summer camp set on 1900 acres of UCR college campus. This fun and engaging camp is centered around soft-skill development including teamwork, leadership, attention-span, adaptability and creativity to name just a few. Activities include a world class challenge course, karate, cooking, arts and crafts, climbing, Archery, volleyball, traditional camp activities, swimming, aquatic zorbs, team sports, outdoor wilderness survival, Physics, Entomology, Botany and many more. Age groups include 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 & 12-15 years old. Lunch, snacks and dinner are included (dinner for extended day campers) and the campers dine in college dining facilities. Each camper will receive a Camp Highlander bag, bottle and t-shirt! Each week of summer camp is about $200.

Neighborhood Day Camp: a day camp for 3rd – 6th Graders at the Grove Community Church. We partner with Forest Home Christian camps and kids will participate in fun high adventure activities, water games, and hear life-changing Bible Stories. July 15 -19 from 9am - 4pm. $200 per camper.

Educational Programs

Summer Bridge by Leading Edge Educational Foundation: Reinforce your child's academic development while away from school. This program lets your child practice the skills from their current school year and get a head start on their next grade level. Activities include: reading, writing, math, language arts, and more! STEM Discovery - UCR Extension: Students will rotate through classes that focus on science and mathematics through activities such as computer programming and engineering. Two separate 1-week courses are available for 3rd-5th graders and 6th-8th graders. June 10-14 and June 24-28 (M-F 9am-4pm). Fee is $295/week. 

Expanding Horizons - UCR Extension/Sprould Hall: Innovative classes in art, math, science, and music. Students rotate through a variety of classes led by dynamic teachers. This two-week course is for 3rd-5th graders and 6th-8th graders. July 8-19 (M-F, 9am-4pm). Fee is $545.

Summer Preschool Program @ Ben Franklin CDC: Our licensed program develops and grows school readiness skills. We provide literacy, language arts, and mathematics as well as a consistent daily routine, classrooms rich in materials, and activities that support the move to kindergarten. Part-Day Program July 18-August 8, 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm. You may be eligible for free or reduced tuition. Visit the center or cdicdc.org for more information.

Little Enotomologist Summer Camp: Make an insect collection, conduct an experiment, listen to guest speakers, explore insect habitats, and interact with live insects! Robotics Camp: Robotics Summer Camp for ages nine and up will be offered June 17-21 and July 8-12, from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Participants will learn robotics, computer coding, artificial intelligence, and logical and analytical thinking. Along the way they will build their own robots for a robot competition at the end of each camp. Tuition is $290 and includes an Arduino microprocessor kit. CSI CampLa Sierra’s Criminal Justice program is offering CSI Camp July 22 – 25 for youth ages 14 – 18. Experts will open a window into the world of forensics with specific classes on crime scene processing such as finger print pattern recognition, forensics photography, CSI lab processing and evidence presentation in a mock court proceeding. Classes place an emphasis on teamwork and developing self-confidence. The four-day camp will be held 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at La Sierra’s Ontario Criminal Justice Campus, 3491 Concours St., Ontario. Science Camps: La Sierra University will offer two science camps this summer, GameMaker Science Camp, June 17 – 21, offering board and card games plus intro to programming in Python. World of Worms Science Camp will be held June 24 – 28 and will explore worm biology. Tuition for each camp is $200. We'll have interactive learning experiences at places like the Aquarium of the Pacific and Knott's Berry Farm.

Reading Skills Programs: Summer reading programs starting at age 4 through entering 11th grade. Classes are taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development and are approved by UCR Extension. All programs meet once each week. Tuition varies by program grade. Engineering Camp at CBU Futurelink’s Engineering Camp is the perfect for those budding engineers who enjoy exploring and building using a variety of materials. The camp is designed specifically for children (7-12) to understand engineering concepts through interactive & fun filled hands-on activities. Students will not only understand the importance of collaboration and teambuilding, they will also improve their critical thinking and problem skills through many different hands on projects and activities. This camp will also give them exposure, insights and understanding of various branch of engineering from Mechanical and structural engineering to electrical, marine and robotic engineering. July 29th - August 2nd Camps are Monday - Friday for 1 week Morning Camp, 9am - 12pm for $285; Afternoon Camp, 1pm - 4pm for $285; Full Day Camp, 9am - 4pm for $495

Sports

Riverside Aquatics: Swim Lessons at King High School: The Riverside Aquatic Association prides itself on its learn to swim program. Classes are small with a 3 to 1 ratio of instructor to pupils and a convenient schedule. Swim lessons take place in a warm heated pool and are based on a child’s ability. Swimmers of all ages are welcome. The Riverside Aquatic Association is also home to a variety of competitive swim teams. We offer private lessons for all swimmers-ages 3-99. Our semi private lessons are children between the ages of 4-12 and our group lessons are for more confident swimmers between the ages of 5-12. Our goal in our lessons is to help your child eventually transition into our Summer Swim team and gain confidence in the sport. Our summer swim team is geared to those who have had some swimming experience in the past and are looking to be introduced into competitive swim or simply stay in shape. Session is April 1st-July 19. The cost for competing in the summer meets is included in the price.

RCC Summer Swim: Classes are Mondays-Thursdays for 8 day sessions, June 10-20, June 24-July 3, and July 8-18. Group classes are $55; semi-private are $110; and private lessons are $220. 

Riverside Sailing Lessons: Kids 10 through 17 years old learn to sail a boat at Fairmount Park in just one week. Three levels are offered: Introduction to Sailing, Novice I: Basic Sailing, and Novice II: Tactics and Racing. Sessions run June 3 - August 2 for $100 per week.

Basketball Camp: Camp covers basic shooting drills, ball handling, offensive/defensive skills for beginners to advanced players. Camp includes t-shirt, ball, and training from varsity players and coach from King HS. June 24-27 from 11am-2pm at King High School's main gym. For students entering 5th-9th grade. Fee $100. The Little Gym of Riverside Summer Camps: This day camp combines fun physical activity, games, and arts & crafts. Kids beat the summer heat by staying cool inside Super Quest Camps are designed for kids ages 3-8, offering interactive learning themes with creative lesson plans that keep kids engaged. Challenger Soccer Camp: July 22-26. The TinyTykes program ($115) will provide 3-5 year olds with fundamental soccer activities, games, and stories, designed to develop technical skills along with physical and social development. The Half Day Camp ($175) for 6-16 year olds is our most popular program and will provide 3 hours of skill development each day. This is Challenger Sports' most popular soccer camp program and features individual skill development, core techniques, one on one skills, freestyle soccer, small sided games and our camp World Cup. The Half Day Camp is 3 hours each day for five days and is suitable for all skill levels and the campers will be separated by age. Campers will also learn about Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship & Leadership. Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp is the only soccer camp in the country that has been accredited by The American Camping Association (ACA). Challenger’s summer soccer camp programs include a free soccer ball, t-shirt, poster, on-line learning subscription, plus campers registering 45 days or more prior to camp will receive a replica game jersey! CBU Soccer Camps: CBU Men’s & Women’s Soccer works together to offer the best youth soccer camps in the Inland Empire. Our camps are staffed by the coaches and players from both programs.  This summer we have two camps that you can participate in, or we offer a discount for those who register for both camps.  We focus on encouraging individual technical skill development in a fun setting.  Activities include, but are not limited to, small-sided games, technical activities, soccer tennis & much, much more. CBU Basketball Camps: Five incredible weeks of basketball instruction and games for boys AND girls ages 5-14 in SoCal’s best basketball venue! The goal of Lancer Basketball Camp is for all campers to work hard and feel good about themselves in a disciplined, highly-structured, motivated, fun environment. We place the child and his/her personal development ahead of the game. Positive encouragement and measured improvement of fundamental skills are trademarks of our camps, as well as players learning to work together in a team setting. Canyon Crest Tennis and Sports Camp: Open to members and non-members. June 3-August 9, Monday-Friday half or full day options. Sports Camp 9am-4pm, Tennis Camp Only 9am-12pm. Sports Camp includes tennis (9am-12pm), lunch break (12-1pm), golf lessons (1-2pm), and swimming (2-4pm). If you have a racket great, if not we can provide one for you. Track and Field Camp: Ages 8-14 are invited to Track and Field Camp at King High School. Camp includes instruction in sprints, hurdles, throws, jumps, and pole vault, snacks, special guest speakers from the collegiate level of athletics, and a camp t-shirt. June 17-21 (Monday-Friday), 5pm-8pm. Cost: $75. Registration is June 17th at 4pm. All athletes who are incoming RUSD 9th graders must provide proof of a physical exam and health insurance. Baseball Youth Skills Camp: June 10-13 (Monday-Thursday), 4pm-6pm at King High School. Ages 6-14. Registration begins at 3:30; camp begins promptly at 4pm. Cost: $100. Fee includes 4 days of instruction on catching, throwing, infield play, outfield play, team defense, hitting, and baserunning, camp t-shirt, and coaching stipends. Registration form

Summer Basketball Youth Camp: June 3-7 from 9am-12pm for boys and girls 3rd-9th grade at King High School. Camp fee: $100 includes t-shirt and ball. Proceeds support King High Boys' Basketball. Discounts available for siblings and for Riverside King NJB Player 2018-2019 season. Space is limited to the first 100 campers. The Riverside Sandlot Baseball Camp is a great place for beginning baseball players between the ages of 7 - 14 years who are looking to improve/learn new skills, work hard, make new friends and have fun! Participants must bring glove and hat to camp. Camp is held July 23, 25 & 27. Camp is scheduled Tuesday and Thursday from 8 - 11 a.m. and games will be played on Saturday from 9 a.m. - noon. All camp dates will be held at Hunter Hobby Park.

Music, Dance, and Art

CBU Choir Summer Camp: Junior, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels for students entering grades 4-12, July 15-19 from 9am-4pm. $195 for the week includes camp T-shirt, lunch daily, performance materials, and camp concert.

CBU Band and Orchestra Summer Camp: Intermediate and Advanced Levels for students entering grades 7-12, July 22-26 from 9am-4pm. $195 for the week includes camp T-shirt, lunch daily, performance materials, and camp concert.

Riverside Art Museum Summer Camp: Week-long art classes (M-F) run from June 10 through August 2 either 9am-noon to 1pm-4pm. Each week has a different theme and art materials. Music Camp: The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts at La Sierra University will hold its annual summer music camp June 17 – 28 for youth in kindergarten through grade 12. Camps and academies will offer classes in a variety of skill and age-specific activities such as choir, recorder, strings, ukulele, music history and theory, orchestra, musical theater and opera, film music and more. The Tweedlie Center for the Arts has three camps this summer. All camps are one week long from 9am - 1pm and include a t-shirt for performance day. Students will need a sack lunch ever day, except on Friday when there's a pizza party before the show. Musical Theater Camp (ages 6-16) at Orange Terrace Community Center July 8-12 featuring music from Wicked. DIY Musical Theater Camp (ages 10 and up) June 17-21 at The Box Riverside. VBS (Vacation Bible School)

Magnolia Church: In the Wild - Join our fun summer vbs as we “zoom in” and catch Jesus in action. You’ll make new friends and enjoy crafts and recreation. The Grove Community Church: Summer Splash, 2019 Kingdom Quest, is coming! Watch the Kingdom search for the missing prince in a thrilling journey! Be knighted along with Princess Andrina, Sir Leo, and Gregory and learn the signs of a Faithful Knight! Join The Grove Community Church for a week of summer fun making new friends, playing some awesome games, rockin’ music, cool crafts and discover how to be a faithful knight! Summer Splash – Kingdom Quest runs from June 24-28, 2019 from 9am to noon and is open to all children ages 4 years (by September 1, 2019) to 6th grade (Fall 2019). Harvest Riverside: Gas up the all-terrain vehicle and head out on a wilderness adventure like no other at, “In the Wild.” Starting June 24, get up close and personal with elephants and egrets, polar bears and penguins, cockatoos and crocodiles, and so much more! As a parent of a 3-year-old to 6th grader, you will receive information from us updating you of what will be happening each day, so you too can be well-prepared when dropping off your child each night. Fun with Animals

Animal Kids Camp: Animal Kids Camp is our day camp for kids who love animals. We offer camp in the summer and during the local winter and spring breaks. If your kids want to spend time with animals and learn even more about them, this camp is for them! Spend hands-on time with our pet adoption center cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens. Learn fun and new facts about our animals. Participate in animal-themed crafts, activities, and games. Hear from fantastic guest speakers who work with animals. Make new friends who love what you love – the animals, of course! • Our Summer Camp session is Tuesday through Friday, from 9 am – 2 pm.• All camp sessions are held at our Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center location.• Registration is on a first come, first served basis.• The camp is for children ages 5-13.
